So it seems that being a "follower" of the blog doesn't necessarily mean that you will get e-mails letting you know when there's been a new post. If you would like to be updated by e-mail, I have to add your e-mail address to a list in my preferences. So just let me know if you want to be added.

Packed and ready
I'm just about all packed with just a few more things to round up. I'm prepared to rough it for the next month: I'm only bringing 4 shirts, one pair of jeans and one pair of shoes! I'm told that I will be able to wash my own clothes in a bucket that will be provided. Yikes. Well, here's to new experiences.
I'll be leaving on Sunday. I fly from DFW to London, where I'll have a 4-hour layover, then from London to Delhi. It will be 21 hours of total travel time, 17 hours in the air. I'll land in Delhi at 1:25am on Tuesday morning, and my guide, Zarema, will pick me up at the airport and take me to my hotel. I'll spend Tuesday in Delhi in orientation with Zarema, and she'll also take me shopping for my salwaar kameezes that day. On Wednesday I'll take a 6-hour train ride to Dehradun, where someone from the hospital will pick me up from the train station and drive me 1 hour to the hospital in Herbertpur. Then, finally, I'll begin working on Thursday.
I can't believe it's finally almost time to go, after planning for over a year. I have a lot of mixed emotions. I'm excited and nervous, and reluctant to leave Ryan and home. But I know this experience will change me in ways I can't even conceive of yet, and most importantly I know this is what God is calling me to do. I've been praying that God will prepare me for this trip and prepare the hearts of the people I meet so they will be ready to receive God's word. I'm apprehensive about how I will talk to the Indian people through translators, but I know God will speak through me somehow if I let Him.
I'll post as soon as I can once I get there, but I'll be traveling a lot those first couple of days so it may take a while to get settled. Thank you for your continued prayers.

India blog!
Just got the blog up and running. My hope is that I'll be able to post updates from time to time when I'm in India, so that those who are interested can follow my trip. The prayers of my family and friends are crucial to this undertaking, and that makes you all indispensable pieces of this mission. So since you are all involved in a very important way through your prayers, I wanted you to be able to see what your prayers are doing.
I'll post as often as I can once I'm there, including pictures and video. You can sign up to follow the blog (click the "Follow" button in the right-hand column) if you want to be notified when there are updates, or just check back in from time to time. In the meantime, take a look around!
