I'm just about all packed with just a few more things to round up. I'm prepared to rough it for the next month: I'm only bringing 4 shirts, one pair of jeans and one pair of shoes! I'm told that I will be able to wash my own clothes in a bucket that will be provided. Yikes. Well, here's to new experiences.
I'll be leaving on Sunday. I fly from DFW to London, where I'll have a 4-hour layover, then from London to Delhi. It will be 21 hours of total travel time, 17 hours in the air. I'll land in Delhi at 1:25am on Tuesday morning, and my guide, Zarema, will pick me up at the airport and take me to my hotel. I'll spend Tuesday in Delhi in orientation with Zarema, and she'll also take me shopping for my salwaar kameezes that day. On Wednesday I'll take a 6-hour train ride to Dehradun, where someone from the hospital will pick me up from the train station and drive me 1 hour to the hospital in Herbertpur. Then, finally, I'll begin working on Thursday.
I can't believe it's finally almost time to go, after planning for over a year. I have a lot of mixed emotions. I'm excited and nervous, and reluctant to leave Ryan and home. But I know this experience will change me in ways I can't even conceive of yet, and most importantly I know this is what God is calling me to do. I've been praying that God will prepare me for this trip and prepare the hearts of the people I meet so they will be ready to receive God's word. I'm apprehensive about how I will talk to the Indian people through translators, but I know God will speak through me somehow if I let Him.
I'll post as soon as I can once I get there, but I'll be traveling a lot those first couple of days so it may take a while to get settled. Thank you for your continued prayers.

I'm so proud of you Angel - be safe during your travels, and I'll be praying for you.
Rig Veda, Book 10. Hymn XIV. Yama.
1. Honour the king with thine oblations, Yama, Vivasvan's son, who gathers men together,
Who travelled to the lofty heights above us, who searches out and shows the path to many.
2. Yama first found for us the road to travel : this pasture never can be taken from us. Men born on earth tread their own paths that lead them whither our ancient Fathers have departed.
. . .
7. Go forth, go forth upon the ancient pathways whereon our sires of old have gone before us.
There shalt thou look on both the kings enjoying their sacredfood, god Varuna and Yama.
